Just recently, Hyundai released their new Elantra Sport. Hyundai is entering the small sporty sedan segment, slowly but surely. In this market, there are not many models that compete against each other. The only car we can think of that will compete with the Elantra is the VW GLI.
The Elantra Sport will come with a 1.6-liter four cylinder turbo-charged engine, which produces a solid 200 horsepower and 190 lb-ft of torque. The transmission comes in two options. Either a DCT transmission or a Manual transmission. The engine is the same one found in the Hyundai Veloster, another budget sport hot hatch.
When comparing the GLI to the Veloster, we have to admit that the GLI offers a much better driving experience. However, with this new Elantra Sport, only time will tell. We are excited to see it arrive in show rooms and see Hyundai continue to surprise us with their steady improvements they have made all throughout.
