Bugatti CEO Wolfgang Dürheimer has been dropping hints recently about the future of the brand as well as additional information on the Chiron itself. There will be multiple modes on the newest Bugatti, with varying top speeds.
The “Handling Mode” will have active aerodynamic settings adjusted to allow for maximum downforce, leading to incredibly fast lap times. This will allow for a top speed of “only” 239 mph. The Chiron will also be equipped with a Drift Mode and a Top Speed Mode which will allow drivers to hit a maximum top speed of 311 mph.
This insane amount of horsepower is all due to the Chrion’s new W16 8.0-liter quad-turbo that produces a total of 1,480 horsepower and 1,107 lb-ft of torque. It also comes equipped with a standard seven-speed DSG transmission which can launch the Chiron from 0-62 mph in only 2.3 seconds and a 0-186 mph in a mere 15 seconds. The Porsche 918, The Mclaren P1, and The Ferrari La Ferrari, may no longer be deemed the Holy Trinity after the Chiron hits the streets.
The Chiron’s chassis will be derived from the existing Veyron’s carbon-fiber structure, but modified to allow for even more weight reduction. The improved interior design and slick exterior truly makes the new Chiron a sight to behold. This beast however, does come with quite a high pricetag though – $2.5 million.
